Three awesome news from the Psych/Doom masters "Fangs Of The Molossus":

1) We're constantly working on the tracks for our new album. Can't wait to record and see what comes out.
Get ready for something slower, heavier and also a bit different from what you may expect.
Some of the working titles: "Under the Yoke of Jupiter", "In the Wake of the Plague", "Adrift", "Tenebrarum", "Swamp People" and "Black Queen of Phobos".

2) A couple of gigs nearby will be announced soon.

3) Chances are our first self-produced record is going to be reissued on vinyl. More news to come.

Doomalicious hails!

The "FANGS OF THE MOLOSSUS" exposing their project

Sometime ago I was shooting on you tube hoping to discover new bands and interesting songs, i accidentally came across a video "Caligula".....and I was particularly well impressed about it.
I realized that it was a new Italian band and the song that I heard was the first song to be proposed by them

To satisfy my interest, I asked them to write their presentation , to expose the project to the public still does not know them...

"""""Fangs Of The Molossus are a psych-doom metal band from the Florence area. The first band nucleus dates back to 2011, but several line-up changes caused delays and we reached some stability only in late 2012. Currently the band consists of Acid King Khanjia (vocals & guitar), Amp Zilla (lead guitar & space FX), Count J. Vendetta (guitar & space FX), Daemon Nox (bass guitar) and our newest member Iako (drums).

By the way…. yes, three guitars.

We all have a previous musical experience in bands that are/were sometimes radically different from Fangs' doom: Combo De La Muerte, Bobby Tumultous, Tombstone, Cleaver, Bud Spencer Drunk Explosion, Riviera, El Cardinal And The Electric Dicks… From straightforward metal to garage rock or latin jazz, we've separately done them all (all genres: no pun intended). Having a common interest in muddy, slow-paced music too, we just wanted to see what could come out of this apparently weird mix of players.

In Fangs Of The Molossus we aim to let most of our influences freely flow into a unique blend. Music wise, if our backbone is the solid doom that we all equally enjoy, once in a while you may happen to hear something that reveals our individual sensibilities: Hawkwind, Loop, Swans, Danzig, or even Morphine and Spacemen 3. It comes completely natural for us to start composing something that is initially a heavy, rough and obsessive jam (some sort of psychedelic "ostinato") and end up with something else, that shares very little with the starting idea. At times structurally simple and hard rock-ish, other times layered, with frequent noise/drone or space rock intervals, we don't always know what the final output of a song will be. And on stage many tracks become longer, or get faster. Most of our tunes also change over time, until we feel, like now, that a recording "gravestone" needs to be placed.

As for the lyrics, there are many inspirations and, again, no forced lowest common denominator. Cheap pseudo-satanism is undoubtedly funny, but it's not our cup of tea, unless proposed in a cinematic, artsy way. Same goes with drug-driven stuff. We may find intriguing subjects anywhere: in ancient Roman or Etruscan history and mythology just as much as in early 70's horror movies, in science fiction literature, in a Beksinski painting or in a comic book by Hideshi Hino. Escapism, of course. But who would expect cocky social commentary or political commitment from a doom outfit?

Going back to the music, after a few warm-up gigs with our current line-up, supporting bands like Caronte, our close friend Giulio's Funeral Marmoori, Electric Taurus and Witche's Brew, we focused on the tunes we found more defining for our sound and started recording our four-track debut, that will be released in 2013.
We still can't tell about the release format, though. Depending on the mutually beneficial label or distro offers we receive, it could be all tracks in CD or 10" record format, only two of them as a 7" single, one by one for digital download, or any other viable combination. We have already been contacted regarding future Scandinavian, Italian and U.S. distribution, but our main concern now is to get all tracks done. Then we'll see. If no agreement is reached, no problem: D.I.Y. has always been and will forever be an option.
In the meantime, you can listen to the first track we made available online, "Caligula", that also comes with a video, either on main doom web-radios (Grip Of Delusion Radio, Heavy Handed Radio, Hand Of Doom Radio, Downtuned Radio) or on our Facebook and ReverbNation pages.

Doom or be d… ok, you know that. ;-)
